20 Supervised sessions

october/november - December/january

This is where the entire syllabus comes alive in full sessions, and your learning accelerates. Depending on the frequency of sessions you offer paying clients, you can earn certification at any point during the three months allocated for supervised practice.

Throughout the certification process, you will receive monthly Q&A webinars (exclusive to your cohort) alongside the monthly larger community postgraduate webinars. A 1-1 coaching call is held after every five client sessions, and a minimum of 20 sessions is required for certification. This ensures you have the guidance you need to succeed. We'd like you to submit one video session every five sessions.

Coaching fees during this practicum phase are set at a reduced fee of £60 per coaching call with one of our listed Relational Harmony Institute Approved Coaches, which you can view on our website. These four sessions are designed to support you in beginning this journey with Professional Supervision and discovering what aspects of supervision meet your needs. They will inform you of your choice after certification during this exploratory phase.

You are also required to receive three sessions as a client from one of our Relational Harmony Institute-approved CSI/CSB/practitioners. Many of these practitioners offer reduced costs for students in this training and are listed on the RHI Website.

We encourage you to cover these fees from your client fees and charge clients a reduced fee while you are in the certification process.

You start working with paying clients in October, so completing the 20 Supervised practicum Learning Credits by December is possible.

Wednesday Webinar structure

Somatic embodiment practice

Practising and learning the micro-skills of engaging with the body and the environment, resourcing, attuning with each other, and priming our focus of attention with the subject area we are exploring are core practitioner skills. Each week, you will be guided by our leading team of sex educators and faculty to support us all in arriving, opening our receptivity, and attuning to the focus of the webinar—with Arantxa Joseph as our lead choreographer.

group supervision & reflective practice

In this part of the webinar, you will be facilitated in reflective practice to share your learning edges and questions, harvesting your updates to versions of yourselves and what you are learning about yourself from the two weeks of research explorations you have been engaging in with each other and client volunteers. This is where it is important to be abreast with each wave so you are together as a community learning together.

guided teaching

Phoebe and Katie lead this session alongside members of the sex educator team and faculty. There will be guided practice to support your preparation for the next two weeks of research explorations. We will give our focus of attention to one of these. Some weeks we will be visited by other leading educators in this field offering a variety of different teaching styles, approaches and perspectives to enhance our learning environment.

pod meeting & peer supervision

You will each be in a pod of approximately 4 peers supported by a memeber of the sex educator team. This is your support group during the training where you can bring what you are tender and exubehant with as you move through these research explorations. Part the way through the training, you will be taught the peer supervision structure and begin to develop your skills as a mentor with your peers - These skills and practice will be valuable for when you are later practising professionally as a postgraduate

Course Container Agreements

We aim to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment, valuing and understanding each participant's unique learning styles and needs. We acknowledge the many different walks of life we have all come from, how our past experiences influence our relationships and participation in groups, and that we all have unique learning styles and needs. Your participation in the community dynamics during the training influences your curiosity and confidence while learning and developing your fluency as a practitioner. The certification process is emergent and always in process; it's influenced by your emotional fluency and feeling resourced with awareness of learning edges and blindspots and a well-defined post-graduate plan for your continuing professional development. Your dedication to these areas will help you to be confident in your practice as a Sexological Intimacy Coach and in fostering harmonious collaborations within our professional community. During this training, we invite you to give kind focus to the following: celebrate your unique gifts that contribute to and enrich community learning.

  • Your kindness and ethical participation as a professional community member help our community be attuned to each other, and you will be supported if there is a need to repair any ruptures.
  • Your humility with your learning edges.
  • Please honour and respect these agreements throughout the training to the best of your ability.

The following course container agreements have been developed to support the group learning process. Please honour and respect these agreements throughout the training to the best of your ability.

  1. We ask that you agree not to identify individuals, their words, or their experiences, not to make recordings or take photos of people without their permission, and not to discuss these outside of the training context.
  2. We encourage you to share your experiences (e.g., I feel, I notice, I’m experiencing, etc.). This helps us receive each other compassionately rather than generalising and focusing on our learning.
  3. We acknowledge that some community members are under-represented and marginalised in our group and society. We wish to create a community where all voices can be heard, and all perspectives can be valued. This means that we would like to ask you to agree to actively cultivate an awareness of power dynamics and support all members in participating. This includes holding back from habitually taking space in group discussions, understanding how others are participating, and asking others what they might need to participate without making assumptions.
  4. Ethical practice is both a personal and a communal responsibility. We agree not to be bystanders and to speak up whenever we become aware of something that does not feel ethical in our community. We agree to support those who have the courage to speak up, to be willing to engage in any learning or repair that might be required of us and to help each other with kindness as we grow in response to any difficulties that arise. Whatever our role in a community dynamic, we agree to participate with the whole community through the collective process of restoring harmony.
  5. During this practitioner training, you will be inhabiting multiple roles with each other, such as classmate, client, practitioner, and witness roles. You will be expected to work outside of attraction and not engage in erotic sexual relationships with each other.
  6. As practitioners in training in multiple roles with each other, you will be expected to work outside of aversion within your range of optimum generosity while practising setting limits.
  7. Use of drugs or alcohol before or during any online or in-person session is not permitted.
  8. Impact and intention mismatches. Sometimes, our words and actions may impact others in ways we may not intend. When another feels impacted by our words or actions, we ask that you agree, when resourced, to engage in the repair processes taught in this training with compassion and humility. You will be supported in 1-1 supervision calls if this arises.
  9. Dual Roles. Some of us here might have different relationships with each other in other contexts, current or historical. In our opening circles, we invite you to share any dual roles that may influence our community cohesion (while honouring privately agreed-upon confidentiality).
  10. We'd like you to take responsibility for your physical and emotional health and well-being and seek support and guidance where needed. We recommend that you have a Therapist or Coach to support you when aspects of yourself need care and acknowledgement. Self-regulation and care for our emotional and physical well-being are at the heart of this training.
  11. We want to ask you to participate with kindness. This training involves somatic community learning, and supporting each other supports our growth and learning, just as the trees and mycelium networks support each other as part of a forest.
  12. During this training, we encourage you to allow any tender new aspects of yourself to be nurtured, nourished and supported. Honour your reflection and integration times until you feel ready to share with others rather than satisfy other people’s curiosity.

We'd like to ask you to read and agree to honour and respect the course container agreements above to the best of your ability.

BODY POEM

ILLUMINATING UNTHOUGHT KNOWNS

Blue Shades Linear Gradient

Body Poem is a practice that facilitates illuminating unthought knowns, bringing alive exiled aspects of the self that become somatised when not acknowledged through symbolic representation.

ie Sarra

Body Poem can transmute the emptiness of alexithymia and indigestion pain into vibrant embodied symbols and bring life to dormant aspects of the self, which, when left unacknowledged, often manifest as physical discomfort. Alongside treatment model interventions, when illness sets in, and the build-up of pain gets too much to bear, Body Poem can be a catalyst to transform the raw visceral data, recognised as numbness, pain or blame, into embodied symbols, harmoniously breathing life into what was once indigestible and projected.

The Dream Scribe is a conduit for the Dreamer's experience, transmuting communications that may have lost their sense of belonging into poems that bring solace and reinstate them into the chorus of life.

A stance of radical acceptance offers potential for receptivity into the emergence of a living like attuned caregivers transform and bridge an infant’s somatically felt raw experiences into a shared reality. In a shared niche of attention, with symbols and metaphors, we learn to recognise that we are not alone in the soup of undifferentiated realities. This recognition enables us to play and co-create relationship agreements to meet our needs, fostering a sense of community and shared experience.

In many cultures, artistic self-expression transforms the pain of being human into a shared experience of beauty. Even the most seemingly meaningless symbols can spontaneously become embodied, shedding light on aspects of the self that have long yearned for recognition. This transformative power of artistic self-expression is at the heart of Body Poem.

Poems can harmoniously hold the dischord of impossible opposites, like the resilient tension between two ends of a harp string.

In this tension, we might live or die at the precipice of presence in a humbling surrender of holy cows and energy-consuming defences maintaining this separation.

The metaphor and melody of the poem hold us safe, like the banks of a river, containing and allowing the flow of unresolved resentments that might have been dammed before. This can make what might ordinarily be unbearable, bearable, even beautiful and harmonious, like a love song transforms the lament of loss into a song we can weep with together.

NPSA CONGRESS 2024 – TRIESTE, ITALY

THE 23RD ANNUAL CONGRESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL NEURO PSYCHOANALYSIS SOCIETY

TRIESTE, ITALY | JUL 18, 2024 - JUL 20, 2024

In the practice of Body Poem, there are two roles: the Dreamer, who focuses on their observations or a specific area, and the Dream Scribe, who transcribes these explorations. The Dream Scribe's role is (to be a quick writer!) and trust their creativity to read the exact words back in spontaneously emerging poetry. This process is a dance of trusting spontaneity, where one person's world is received into the chords of the heart and voice of another.

The structure of a Body Poem has rules of engagement that facilitate harvesting projections into poetry. As the literalised becomes poetry, this pattern interrupts out-of-date predictive clarity that might limit self-acceptance and receptivity.

Updates to versions of self are assimilated in this new form in ways that bypass the guards, simultaneously allowing privacy for somatic openings and integration within a person's sovereignty.

When a person's exact words are read back, their unique metaphors come alive with enhanced viscerally felt granularity. This offers somatic recognition of aspects of the self that may have been rationalised out of awareness or the acceptance range

inviting the potential for playful interaction.

WHEN THE BODY SPEAKS:

EXPLORING CONVERSION DISORDER AND BEYOND

‘The complex issue of consciousness challenges us to understand how physical processes translate into personal experiences. In conversion disorder (formerly known as 'hysteria' and now referred to as functional neurological disorder or 'FND'), we ask the opposite question: how do personal experiences manifest as physical conditions? This significant conference aims to bring together psychoanalysts, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, neurologists, and other experts involved in the study and treatment of this disorder to discuss the impact of emotional well-being on its development and healing. By presenting clinical cases, research data, and innovative approaches, we strive to gain a holistic understanding of this intricate mind-body relationship.’

Body Poem is an innovative way of bypassing rationalised defences and illuminating unconscious drivers. Body Poem harvests these unthought-knowns through a process of differentiation that promotes integration, which is a crucial aspect of my research. I invite you to anonymously share your insights on Body Poems for my project. Your input could be very helpful, and if you agree to participate anonymously, I will share with you the context of your contributions, and you will have editorial control over what might be published. This research has the potential to significantly contribute to the literature in the realms of psychoanalysis and neuroscience. I want you to know that your privacy is highly respected, and your information will only be used with your enthusiastic consent for this research endeavour.
